After Five
Is everything only good for five days after you open it? I just learn that pasta is only good for five days?
after you open it. Is it this way for every other thing in a jar? Like salad dressings, salsas, jams, cheese in cans?!! Why does pasta sauce have an expiration date on it that is months away if its only good for five days after you open it?!!!
so if everything good to eat just as long as it is before the expiration date?
Foods generally last a lot longer then is listed on the container. There are so many preservatives and fillers in things that they last longer. You just have to use common sense. If it smells funny or develops a slimy texture…toss it. Obviously anything with fish or meat don’t gamble with. “When in doubt throw it out”!!!! Companies are generally require to put a “Best By or Use By or Expiration Date” on the containers to cover their buts. I usually use a product past it’s date.
Here is an example, I was at my mothers….made a salad….used one of her bottles of dressing…I didn’t realize until after the fact that the opened salad dressing was over a year old, it tasted fine and nothing happened to me (thank God) but that dressing made it to the trash.
