Tooled Leather Purse
Landlord – Owner of house is stole my stuff. What should I do?
We are not behind on rent, but she is losing her house after a very ugly divorce and she took my husbands tools worth over $600 and purses that I don”t use very often, but some were pure leather and all were gifts that I valued. We rent the basement of the house and we put stuff in the shed and we told her we”re leaving soon and we don”t know when she stole it or how to prove it. Please help, we are furious, especially because some of those tools were used to pretty up her house! We have put up with her “depression” and we lent her money and we put up with her kids in the basement have marijuana and gangbang parties while she acts like she knows nothing! And they are sooo dirty those kids that the bathroom looks like a gas station bathroom! Ugh! I”m at my wits end!!! Please help!
It sounds like you’re renting a room within a unit…never a good idea unless you know the owner well. As far as your situation, you wont be able to prove anything…shes going to say she doesn’t know what you’re talking about and she will be “Innocent until proved guilty.” If you want to do something you’d have to bait her with something of value that she’d take and hide a camera somewhere to catch her. You could also call the police about the kids in the basement because you would have the right to let them in where you are renting…but if they have never been written up before they will just get a $50 fine and they’ll be real pissed at you. If the landlord is suppose to keep up the bathroom it should be a violation of her duties as a landlord and you could use it for cause to get out early, if she admits that she knows about the parties in the basement and you have talked to her about it you could probably use that to get out too.
